Mass Effect 3 – Great Improvements

masseffect3

My expectations were high for Mass Effect 3. When the game was released I read a lot of bad reviews which I found quite sad because I had eagerly anticipated its release.
I was not disappointed! Simply put, it is one of the greatest games I have ever played. I have been hooked since the release of the first Mass Effect.
I took the risk and made the purchase, and I have to be honest, the game is absolutely awesome and a massive improvement on Mass Effect 2. The graphics are better, the game play is massively improved and there are much more weapons to play with. The cut scenes are beautifully done, the backgrounds are beautifully drawn, lip syncing is spot on and the animation is hugely improved. The characters look absolutely real, Ashley looks stunning. The music in the game is incredible and the sound effects are equally as good! I have a surround sound system and when the game is in full flow, the noise will take your breath away! The characters voices are brilliant, putting it on a par with Skyrim. The accents are really good, along with really improved conversations between characters, making them much more believable. The story, as expected, is excellent and as it pans out, you really feel there is no hope. The basic plot is to gather as many resources as possible in order to attack the Reapers.

There are some new additions to the squad, right at the start you get a guy called James, an Alliance soldier who is a complete narcissist! James pushes Shepard to the edge! One tip is to try and recruit a Prothean, as they have important abilites. The final thing i can say is, Mass Effect 3 is truly awesome, a game with a storyline that sucks you in from the very first moment.

Developed by EA DICE and utilizing the Frostbite 2 engine, Battlefield 3 has turned out to be one of the most exciting first person shooter game of this decade. This game has achieved high praise for its realistic and completely destructible environments that surely increases the adrenaline rush of the player. Moreover, the storyline added to the first person campaign is absolutely gripping. Although the Battlefield franchise is known for its multiplayer game mode, the single player campaign introduced in Battlefield 3 has a rich and engaging story line.

Battlefield 3 is available on various platforms including PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to ensure an exciting gaming experience for all dedicated gamers. Apart from the single player campaigns, players will be able to enjoy multiplayer and co-operative gaming modes as well. The reintroduction of commanding various types of vehicles, including tanks, armored vehicles, helicopters and fighter jets have increased the level of thrill and excitement level of this first person shooter.

XBox Addict

Addict??

When we were dating, he hardly ever played his XBox and we would play together and not for too long. Now we’re married. We have little fights about cleaning the catbox. Our love life is better than our first year of marriage. I remember how silly we felt trying to get that right. But the Xbox has a prime, shrine location in our living room. My honey can’t seem to go a day without handling the other ‘tool’. We call it the tool because penis is not acceptable in mixed company. Seems to be okay to write it in a blog lol.

Angry Birds Review

Rockin'

Angry Birds is the biggest gaming phenomenon to shine in recent years.

To play, you simply load up a chicken in your slingshot,  setting your angle as you pull back and let go. Let the destruction begin.  Angry Birds’ game play is easy to understand and the payoff for blowing stuff up is surprisingly satisfying for such simple game. You receive chickens in a particular order, which diminishes some of the strategy. You might sling your chickens in the same spot each time but the game’s sensitive system usually gives different results. There’s definitely luck involved.

The mobile phone game has been downloaded over 500m times since it came out in stores, December 2009.

Focus Multimedia is bringing the second Angry Birds game to retail – Angry Birds Seasons. This new special edition takes the birds across several seasons as they hope to thwart the evil egg-stealing pigs. Like other Angry Birds games, players must catapult their cartoon birds from the left side of the screen in order to smash the pigs’ fortresses on the right. It’s the same addictive strategy puzzle game play but with fresh new levels and styles.

Seasons

Angry Birds Seasons includes over 200 levels taking place across a variety of themed stages based on holidays and festivals such as Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, St.Patrick’s Day, Easter and Moon Festival.

Seasons also has an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 on the Android marketplace, out of almost half a million ratings.

Have Board Games Lost All Charm

boardgame-image

We Love Our PS2!

Are board games obsolete?

As a teacher, I have weekly opportunities to check in with parents who share how things are going at home. I am very happy to report that parents love to carry on the games of their youth. It would appear that board games are not just holding their own but they actually seem to be gaining ground.

Nowadays board games have become much more creative with their settings and rules and it’s a far cry from simplistic Snakes and Ladders. But the basic criteria stays the same … they are all games for players who actually sit down around a board and play. They interact socially, they bond, they argue and they question. And they learn how to get along with one another.

The majority of board games are gentle, non-violent and some are very funny. Even the board games that could be thought of as mildly aggressive, like Chess and the Viking war game, Hnefatafl, merely involve the capture of one’s opponents playing pieces. These are games of cunning and slow, long view strategy but they are much more cerebral.

The good news …

This is not just sentimental nostalgia on my part. It is more a genuine acknowledgement that a lot of fun can be had by families and friends sitting noisily round a table, arguing and laughing over an apparently simple board game.

How about a puzzle? 2000 pieces anyone?
